Critical Time for Emaciated Owner Surrendered Dog
An update now on Kiki, the boxer who was surrendered by her owner after animal advocates witnessed her condition.
This is in Broadway, North Carolina.
Look at this sweet girl—she’s emaciated, not even half the weight she should be. Kiki has a long road ahead, and her condition is critical.
Animal advocate Michelle Leigh tells us Kiki’s kidney values are very concerning. She’s not eating and is under veterinary care, where she’s undergoing testing, including an SDMA test, to help pinpoint the problem.
Meanwhile, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into her owner. No charges have been filed yet. We’ve reached out to the sheriff’s office and are waiting to hear back.
Now, many of you have reached out to the animal hospital caring for Kiki. But access to her is restricted for legal reasons. Michelle Leigh asks that if you want to help with Kiki’s care, please donate to the Pet Angel Fund in Fayetteville. We have confirmed this information. You can find more details on their Facebook page at Fayetteville Pets Angel Fund.
And finally, Michelle asks for your prayers. This is the fight of Kiki’s life. We’ll continue to monitor her progress and share any updates as we get them.

Now Former Tennessee Deputy Out On Bond After Allegedly Killing 7 Dogs
This now-former Tennessee sheriff’s deputy is on the wrong side of the law, allegedly killing seven dogs. We’ll hear from the dog dad in a second. Former McNairy County Deputy Connor Brackin was called out for an animal welfare check on November 4th. The caller reported malnourished and abandoned dogs.
The arrest affidavit states that once on the scene, Brackin spoke with the caller, observed the dogs in pens outside and in two mobile homes, and gave one of the dogs to the caller. Brackin then loaded his service rifle and pistol and fired a total of eight rounds into the pens and the campers.
Here’s what dog dad Kevin Dismuke told local media—he wasn’t even home at the time.
This all took place about two hours east of Memphis in the city of Bethel Springs on November 4th. After an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Brackin turned himself in and is now out on bond.
Brackin’s bond was set at $1,000. He is charged with seven counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and eight counts of reckless endangerment. We’ve reached out to Brackin and have not heard back.
Now it’s time to have your voice heard.
