Southern Oaks Animal Hospital
I just spoke with the hospital and the Keep Wayne Coats Sheriff. kiki is being evaluated right now, as of 4:30 pm EST Thursday, November 14th.
The sheriff’s office is not taking this lightly; they told me they’ve opened an investigation, and the former owner could face animal cruelty charges.
If you want to donate to Kiki’s care, I’ve confirmed the information. You can call Southern Oaks Animal Hospital at 910-424-3011. You can also donate to the Pet Angel Fund in Fayetteville. The Facebook link is on my page for that: https://www.facebook.com/FayettevillePetsAngelFund.
We’ll keep tabs on Kiki, and when we know more, you will too.

BLIND DOG HELPS FLORIDA HUNTER TRACK INVASIVE PYTHONS
Deep in the Florida Everglades, Martin County trapper Mike Kimmel, also known as the “Python Cowboy,” is on a mission to eradicate invasive Burmese pythons. His secret weapon? A blind rescue dog aptly named Helen Killer.
Born without eyes and with limited hearing, Helen’s heightened sense of smell helps her track the elusive snakes, which are notoriously hard to spot. Kimmel calls her disability a “blessing in disguise,” as it enhances her hunting abilities.
“It’s rewarding to take a dog in a bad situation and give it a purpose,” Kimmel said.
Last week, Helen successfully located a large python, fearlessly getting close to the massive predator. Burmese pythons aren’t venomous but can deliver a painful bite.
Kimmel hopes Helen’s story inspires others to adopt rescue dogs and turn them into capable companions. He also calls for state support to establish a dedicated dog program for python control.
